Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Minneapolis Bloomington/Mall of America

Went to the hot tub at 6pm and it was being cleaned … not sure why they do that during the day but we came back at 8 pm when they said it would be ready … it was cold. Had to find staff to help but even after an hour it was still not a hot tub. Disappointing. Breakfast was very limited at 9:00 vs 8:00 even though it goes to 10:00am. One Staff walks around with headphones on so hard to get their attention and seems annoyed that he needs to help but the breakfast staff was helpful and the shuttle operator were helpful. Close to mall but also very close to airport which made it noisy. And halls are noisy.

Do keep in mind it's next to an airport, don't be surprised when the planes are loud as hell overhead. If you want to be close to the airport this is a good pic for the price. It's got an indoor pool and hot tub. The parking is free and was widely available on a Friday afternoon. I can't really complain about the accommodations. If you've been to any other Ramada you know what to expect.

Rooms were decent but the beds weren't really that comfortable. A/C was a wall unit so it was hard to regulate the temperature. The service was kinda iffy the night we checked in but the next morning the manager was there and he was phenomenal. The shuttle drivers were amazing- warm, upbeat and welcoming. They are a big reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3. The location was great too. They had a free shuttle no only to/from the airport but also to The Mall of America. They are also a 3 mins walk from public transportation which we utilized.

What a dump. I used my points to book two nights, and I still feel like I paid too much. The hotel is dirty, beat up, dated and gross. My room smells like musty piss. When they called to ask how my room was after I checked in I told him that's how my room smelled, they were supposed to send somebody up to clean it, no one showed up, no one offered a different room. I would not be surprised if there were bed bugs. I can't wait to see what horror I have to deal with with their breakfast in the morning, I have no doubt it will be a sickening display of disgusting food. Not sure who runs this pit, but I'm going to let Marriott know that they need to send somebody out here to take a look around. Whatever you do, book someplace else, you'll be happy you did, spend a little more so you don't have to stay in a room that smells like human piss.

This hotel is just a usual Fairfield Inn comparing other we have stayed. However, the staffs are super friendly. Lobby staffs were always available and provided our needs. Breakfast staffs kept big smiles on their face. Shuttle bus drivers gave us rides to Mall Of America, Light Rain station and airport. Also, the facility is clean, specially the pool and hot tub is very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and will stay here again if I come back to this area.

If I where basing my review on staff and shuttle drivers alone I would give this place five stars. I didn’t choose this hotel nor make the reservations. If I had I would have asked for another room. The room was absolutely appalling. When we opened the door, the smell of wet dog and feet with notes of some sort of citrus room freshener was overwhelming. Even running the heat , the fan, and lastly the AC did nothing to improve it. Every surface was damp/ sticky. Except the the tile on the bathroom floor which was so slick , it was treacherous. Such an odd choice for a bathroom where surfaces are often wet. I slipped in my hikers on the stuff and immediately worried for my 80 yo father in the adjacent room. I texted him straight away to warn him. I would have gone barefoot but the ick factor of the room wouldn’t allow it. When I pulled back the covers of the bed there was debris at the foot of the bed and a hair or two under the pillows at the head of the bed. Clearly the bed had not been changed after the last guest. Now we aren’t fancy people and we where just there two nights to attend the football game but I can’t believe the low level of basic hotel room care found here. I didn’t want to offend my brother in law who made the arrangements for us, so we made due. I will however never willing stay at a Fairfield Inn again.
